Programs for Absorption of Researchers

Fellowships for Senior Immigrant Researchers

The wave of immigration from the Eastern Bloc brought with it mature senior researchers who, due to their age, were not hired in the regular track, despite the fact that the universities were interested in integrating them, based on their achievements in their countries of origin. The PBC thus decided in 1992 to create a program especially designed to support researchers in this category, who would be employed under special contracts outside of the regular track, for a period of 5 years (with the possibility of an extension of up to 10 years).

For additional information please consult the person at the university who is responsible for Student Aid/Scholarships or the Rector’s Office.

The Program for Absorption of  Immigrant Scientists ("Kamea")

This program, an outgrowth of the "Gilad" program, is meant to assist in the absorption of immigrant scientists in the universities. The funding for the program is divided between the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption with about a 60% share, and the universities, with a 40% share. The PBC participates in about 60% of the universities’ share. Every year about 400 scientists are employed through this program.

For additional information please consult the person at the university who is responsible for Student Aid/Scholarships or the Rector’s Office.
